ANIME : Soredemo Sekai Wa Utsukushii (The World Is Still Beautiful)

Ta~daaa! Another side of me that most people don’t know is; I’m an ANIME LOVER! like seriously fan-anime!

Well, the genre that I often go after are romance, fantasy, shoujo, & comedy. So, today I would like to give a review about this anime entitled; Soredemo Sekai Wa Utsukushii or in English means The World Is Still Beautiful.

“Nike, the fourth princess of the Rain Dukedom and one who holds the power to call forth the rain, travels to the Sun Kingdom to marry Sun King Livius for her country, despite her own reluctance. She soon discovers that the King, who conquered the world in only three years after his ascendance to the throne, is still a child! Furthermore, for trivial reasons, he has demanded that Nike call forth the rain..?!”

Review:-

Reading the synopsis itself shows that the story is different than other love stories. Both main hero and heroin have their own unique characters. King Livius/Livi is a very strict and cold-hearted ruler but protecter despite his age who can be consider as a child! Due to his past, had made him to be such King.

King Livius

King Livius

Nike Lemercier/Nike in other hand is very different from King Livius. She is very kind and simple woman despite her title as a princess. She is an independent and also stubborn one who loves to follow what her heart says.

Princess Nike Lemercier

Princess Nike Lemercier

The contrast of these two characters had brought a lot of laughters and changed05
the cold-hearted King Livius during their period staying together before the royal wedding held. King Livius also successfully brought something that Nike won’t find by herself; a song from her soul to call forth the rain. Moreover, this anime although didn’t include “overdo-skinship” between them, but their skinship can makes the viewers flutters and feels “overdose” of their sincere love.

06They fought, they love, they teased and protect each others. Not only that, the side characters are also well-made and very helpful in order to keep this story lively.

In conclusion, I would say that this anime is definitely different and a must to watch. Not only that, it is also ‘probably’ suitable to be watch by 13+ since it does not contains any ‘sexual-contents’. Soredemo Sekai Wa Utsukushii, the story is as its name is worth to be rate 9/10 as I couldn’t find any lacks in its storyline. In fact, I’m wishing that it will have Season 2!

FOOD : The Walnut Raisin Crescent Bread @ Four Leaves

To be truth, I’m a raisins lover but I hate anything that related to “nuts”. In my office, Kak Umi, she offered me a bread because both of us didn’t go out for lunch. At first, I hesitated since it contained “walnuts” but, it has raisins too~! Ohhh I was in dilemma….

So, I took the bread thinking that “ohh.. I can just separate the walnuts bread1from the bread anyway.” But, I was thinking that it will be a waste, so, I ate it together since the walnuts weren’t so much as raisins in that bread. As soon as I tasted it, oh my god, It tastes so good and I want it more…. Indeed, I went to Kak Umi to asked for it more! (shame on me… ha ha ha). **The 1st photo is from somewhere in Google**

The Walnut Raisins Crescent Bread, I was looking for it for about two weeks since I’ve tasted it. I heard that Kak Umi said her friend brought it from The Loafs bakery. So, mistakenly heard, I went to the bakery every time I saw the bakery. However, I found it nowhere on the shelf which make me a bit heartbroken~ Finally, yesterday I bumped with Kak Umi’s friend and I was like straightly asked her “…where did you buy the raisins bread?” and she said “.. ohh, at the Four Leaves bakery down there.”

bread01Bammm~ me like what???? at Four Leaves not The Loafs bakery? so, I straightly went to the bakery and yes I’ve found it! I bought 2 walnut raisins crescent breads! weeee~

So, in term of taste, well, it taste fine to me and I love to eat it while it still hot because the texture of the bread is much more softer and I can taste the combination of the sweetness of raisins and the taste of (like) the roasted walnuts. I mostly will heat the bread in the microwave before I eat it to make it taste better and I certainly would recommend this bread to my family and friends.

As the Four Leaves customer, I would rate the Walnut Raisins Crescent Bread :-

3.7 STARS!

My New Bae from UK is a book

“The wait is long, my dream of you does not end.”
Nuala O’Faolain, My Dream of You

Yesterday, right after my office hours ended (I’m in my 3 months legal attachment), I run my fingers on the keyboard and typed https://malaysia.kinokuniya.com/ . Yess, I’m looking for a new book to fill my free time. For this time, I’m looking for something different, the genre is still the same as The Ghost Bride, have a little bit historical and old era story line. So, I was thinking about the ancient time like Egypt, pharaohs or something like that – interesting isn’t? he he

While searching for a title, I saw this book. The cover and the title does not caught my attention but still my finger wants to click at the link. Then, Bammm~! The synopsis just caught my attention! Without thinking, I immediately dialed Kinokuniya Bookstore’s phone number. It was a lady who answered my call and I asked her whether the book is still in stock or otherwise. Unfortunately, not as lucky as before, the book was not in the stock and I have to place an order if I want to buy it.

So here what I did, I just said “Ok, I want to order the book.” I ordered hthe UK version as it much more cheaper than the US version. After placing the order, I received a sms which contained the reference number, period and price. Ohh my, I can’t believe I have to wait for it about 3-4 WEEKS! And that is why I started my writing today with such a pity quote…………..

“The wait is long, my dream of you does not end.”

ha ha ha.

REVIEW : The Ghost Bride by Yangsze Choo

ghostbridefinalrev“One evening, my father asked me if I would like to become a ghost bride…

Li Lan, a young Chinese woman, lives in 1890s colonial Malaya with her quietly ruined father, who returns one evening with a proposition — the fabulously wealthy Lim family want Li Lan to marry their son. The only problem is, he’s dead.

After a fateful visit to the opulent Lim mansion, Li Lan finds herself haunted not only by her ghostly would-be suitor, but also by her desire for the Lim’s handsome new heir, Tian Bai. Night after night, she is drawn into the shadowy parallel world of the Chinese afterlife, with its ghost cities, paper funeral offerings, vengeful spirits and monstrous bureaucracy. Li Lan must uncover the Lim family’s darkest secrets, before she is trapped in this ghostly world forever.”

Review:-

The title itself had caught my intention when I was searching online the sequel books of Switched by Amanda Hocking namely Torn #2 and Ascend #3 thru MPH Online.com website. When I read the synopis, I said to myself that “…I must own this book immediately.” Lucky for me, my sister brought me to Kinokuniya Bookstore, KLCC to treat me birthday present which was on 31st March. So, I managed to get myself both Amanda Hocking’s sequel books which happened to be the last pieces each left and of course, The Ghost Bride by Yangsze Choo!.

Reading the book really brought me back to the era of 1890s in colonial Malaya (although I never really live in that era ~ Imaginations are more powerful than you thought!). Yangsze Choo really managed to create the characters with their own personalities and charms especially, Er Lang (I’m sorry, He is my bias). The plots are also well created and surprisingly, such traditions are actually exists! (well, I won’t tell you what traditions, you need to read it~ ha ha).

Other than that, the language used by the author is clear and easy to understand which automatically made it suitable to read by youngsters and adults. To tell you, I really enjoyed myself reading the book and it was really worth to buy!

Thank You Yangsze Choo for the amazing adventures. I can’t wait to read your next book….. Hint to Jeaders —-> “1930s”.

**Yangsze Choo, please make 1 sequel of The Ghost Bride at least.

JehanJa’afar
